What to do with Hacked Joomla 1.5 website?
Lately it seems to have hackers are targeting vulnerable Joomla 1.5 installations because Joomla 1.5 is not officially out-dated and no more security fixes are going to be released by Joomla! team.
Now if you got Hacked Joomla 1.5 website and want to know how to clean the website. Follow these steps:
- We have found some patterns of hacking when they inject Malware codes on Joomla 1.5 sites. Mostly they inject codes in root's index.php OR template's index.php file and sometimes hacks are added in JS and CSS files as well so you can look into these files first and clean them. But we highly recommend to browser through all the files in sub-directories and make sure, everything is cleaned.
- If you don't want to do any of above things then I will suggest you to restore the website from clean backups if that is feasible for you.
- Upgrade your website to most recent version 1.5.26 of Joomla 1.5 framework.
- Change Database Password.
- Change FTP Password.
- Change Joomla Password.
